Small Town Charm

Our first port of call was Ketchikan, Alaska. As the sign boasts, it's the salmon capital of the world! To put that to the test, Dad and Jeff went out on a 7 hour fishing charter to catch some of the finest salmon the Pacific Ocean has to offer. They came back with quite a catch and each of the guys ended up bringing home 13 lbs. of cleaned and packaged fillets! Yum! Mom and I had an excursion of our own. We went on a 4 hour kayaking trip. It was more like a personal tour, as it was just the two of us and our guide. While we were struggling against the wind in the Ketchican channel, one of the boats from "The Deadliest Catch" went floating past us. (My camera was tucked away from the dangers of water and by the time I got it out, the boat was too far away!) Over all a very fun day!
This was a bald eagle that was no more than
10 feet from my kayak! They were abundant in the wild there.

This is Meg, our instructor. She was very good and VERY patient!
